    Information on suitable evolutionary and geographic population boundaries is indispensable for the effective management of protected species, as is understanding the synergistic impact of physical environment and life history traits on shaping population structure and connectivity. The saltwater crocodile, Crocodylus porosus, is the largest and most geographically extensive extant crocodilian, ranging from Sri Lanka through Southeast Asia to the north of Australia. Yet, the amount, expanse, and stability of the connections among managed groups are not completely understood. For a comprehensive genetic survey of C. porosus throughout almost the complete range of the species in Queensland, Australia, we employed an efficient genotyping approach combining DArTseq and sequence capture to evaluate 3000 high-quality genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms from 1176 specimens. Our research into historical and modern connectivity patterns used fixation and diversity indices, clustering procedures, and the spatial arrangement of kin pairs. Employing forward simulation, combined with a kinship estimation method that is resilient to unstated population structures, we deduced kinship relationships. The C. porosus population’s genetic structure, exhibiting six major populations, was substantially influenced by geographical location, as the results demonstrated. The rate of gene flow correlated highly with spatial distance, showing a greater genetic divergence along the eastern seaboard in contrast to the west. Studies on kinship structures indicated reproductive philopatry and limited dispersal; approximately 90% of reported first and second-degree relatives were found to have sampling locations within a 50-kilometer radius of each other. Considering the restricted dispersal, inadequate habitat, and low crocodile populations, alongside the high percentage of juvenile crocodiles, regional and statewide conservation strategies are crucial for future management.

Our experiment tested whether herbivore feeding on plants changed as a result of previous interactions with damaged plants, looking into the variability of this plant-plant signal effect across 113 different natural Arabidopsis thaliana genotypes. For one hour, the generalist herbivore Cornu aspersum was filmed while interacting with two plants that only differed in their prior contact with a damaged plant, one having been exposed, and one not.     Analysis of metabolite and gene expression dynamics concerning phosphorus uptake and utilization in soybean seedling roots was carried out under contrasting short- and long-term phosphorus deficiency regimes. After two days of phosphorus deprivation, an elevated metabolic activity in the TCA and GS/GOGAT cycles was observed, according to metabolome results; however, this activity diminished considerably after fifteen days. GC-TOF-MS data indicated a considerable increase in amino acid buildup due to phosphorus insufficiency after just two days, a pattern distinct from the noticeable rise in organic acids and lipids that occurred after 15 days. Five key genes critical to phosphorus uptake and the signaling cascade triggered by phosphorus starvation showed continuously increasing transcriptional levels, as evidenced by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), correlating with phosphorus deficiency. Soybean root response to phosphorus scarcity included the induction of GmPHT1 and GmSPX expression. This activated the phosphorus starvation signal pathway. Consequently, GmPS and GmPAP gene expression intensified, increasing the synthesis and release of organophosphorus hydrolase and organic acids. The 15-day stress period resulted in a substantial increase in phospholipid metabolism, with GmSQD, a vital enzyme in lipid biosynthesis, being upregulated. Therefore, future research into the stress response to phosphorus deficiency should analyze a greater diversity of organs across different developmental stages.

Through the lens of relative deprivation theory, this study explores the correlation between decent work and workplace deviance, considering the mediating role of relative deprivation and the moderating influence of career calling.

    Using a moderated mediation model, data collected across two waves from 307 physicians and 61 supervisors in public hospitals located in central China were analyzed.

    Workplace deviance is inversely correlated with decent work, with relative deprivation acting as a mediating factor; the negative link between decent work and relative deprivation is further weakened by the presence of a strong career calling. Career calling moderates the mediating process of relative deprivation, with the indirect effect being amplified at high levels of career calling.

    This study, focusing on the mediating effect of relative deprivation and the moderating influence of career calling, contributes to the existing literature by addressing the previously unexplored correlation between decent work and workplace deviance. This investigation, consequently, attends to the research requests regarding dignified work, utilizing the framework of relative deprivation.
