For all anosmia and dysgeusia cases who received fluticasone nasal spray and triamcinolone medications the recovery of smell senses and the taste was within a week.Pot experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of magnetized water irrigation (100 mT) and root cutting (three pruning intensities) on phytoremediation efficiency of Celosia argentea. In the absence of magnetic field treatment, low root cutting intensity increased the dry weight of the below-ground and aerial parts of C. argentea. Moderate and severe cutting intensities decreased the biomass yield of the plant roots by 11.3% and 31.0%, and increased the dry weight of aerial parts by 75.9% and 27.6%, respectively, alleviating the detrimental effects of these pruning treatments on the plant roots. In the presence of magnetic field treatment, 10% and 25% of pruning treatments increased the dry weight of plant roots by 52.1% and 33.8%, and 33% pruning treatment decreased it by 14.1%. Under both irrigation treatments, low and moderate root cutting strategies did not affect the take up of Cd by the plant roots, while severe cutting decreased it significantly. Enzyme activities decreased with the increment of pruning intensity, and magnetic field can alleviate the negative impact, increasing the capacity of the root pruned species to scavenge the excessive ROS induced by the accumulated Cd. The results showed that root pruning enhanced the phytoremediation efficiency of C. argentea, and this effect was enhanced when combined with magnetized water irrigation.The reuse of the sewage is an effective way to solve the shortage of water resources, but disinfection by-products (DBPs) caused by chlorination may bring potential ecological and health risks to the supplied water. In this study, the occurrence and potential ecological risk of DBPs in SH River in Beijing were evaluated. Four kinds of DBPs were detected in 84 samples by GC-MS, including THM, CH, CTC and TCAN, whose detection rates were 100%, 100%, 100% and 2.38%, respectively. Combining with the relevant standard limitation and corresponding threshold values in China, and the reported concentration in domestic and foreign literatures, the results showed that the number of samples which [THM], [CTC] and [CH] exceeded the threshold values in relevant standard for 23.81%, 100.00% and 89.29%, respectively. CTC showed the highest excess times than the threshold value with [CTC]max was 356.46 μg/L. In addition, the temporal and spatial characteristics of identified DBPs were studied. [THM], [CTC] and [CH] all exhibpotential ecological risk caused by DBPs should be fully considered in the process of reclaimed water supplying landscape water, such as urban river. If a higher level of the ecological risk management is needed, THM, CTC and CH, especially CTC, should be considered firstly.Cadmium (Cd) is hazardous to human health and it is also highly detrimental to amphibian life. In this study, Bufo gargarizans larvae were exposed to environmentally relevant Cd concentrations of 5, 100 and 200 μg L-1 from Gosner stage (Gs) 26 to Gs 42 of metamorphic climax about 6 weeks. The results showed thyroid structural injuries and thyroid signaling disruption were induced by high Cd exposure (100 and 200 μg L-1). Moreover, tadpole skeleton including whole body, vertebrata, forelimb and hindlimb was developmentally delayed by high Cd exposure through downregulating the mRNA expressions of genes involved with skeletal ossification and growth pathway. Moreover, liver histopathological injuries were caused by high Cd exposure featured by hepatocytes malformation, nuclear degeneration and increasing melanomacrophage centers. Meanwhile, liver apoptosis rate showed on the rise in a dose-dependent way and Cd stimulated liver apoptosis by upregulating mRNA expressions of genes related to extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis pathways. Furthermore, high Cd caused hepatic glucometabolism disorder by decreasing the genetic expressions associated with glycolysis and mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. In addition, liver lipid metabolism was disrupted by high Cd exposure through downregulating mRNA levels of genes related to fatty oxidation and upregulating mRNA levels of genes related to fatty acid synthesis. We suggested that Cd did great harm to tadpole health by disturbing thyroid function, skeletal growth, liver cell apoptosis signaling and hepatic energy metabolism pathway.Bisphenol A (BPA), as a phenolic compound, is harmful to human health, and its residue in the aquatic environment also threatens the health of aquatic animals. LDC203974 In this research, the toxicity effects of BPA on liver tissues were evaluated in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) after long-term exposure. Fish were exposed to five concentrations of BPA (0, 0.01, 0.1, 0.5 and 2 mg/L) for 30 days. The blood and liver tissues were gathered to analyze biochemical indices and genes transcription levels. The data related to lipid metabolism showed that BPA exposure increased serum total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels, upregulated the expressions of fatp1, pparγ, fas, atgl, hsl, pparα, cpt1b, acox-1, and downregulated the expression of dgat1 in liver. Antioxidative parameters displayed a reduced antioxidant ability and increased lipid peroxidation after BPA exposure. Meanwhile, the upregulations of nrf2, ho-1, cyp1a and cyp1b genes revealed an adaptive response mechanism against oxidative stress-induced adverse effects. After 30 days of exposure, BPA induced apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) via upregulating the expression levels of apoptosis and ERS-related genes and increasing Ca2+ concentration in liver. Moreover, the downregulation of mtor and the upregulation of atg3, atg7, tfeb, uvrag and mcoln1 indicated that BPA could influence the normal process of autophagy. Furthermore, BPA exposure activated toll like receptors (TLRs) pathway to mediate the inflammatory response. Our results demonstrated that BPA exposure disturbed lipid metabolism, and induced oxidative stress, ERS, apoptosis, autophagy and inflammatory response in the liver of common carp. These findings contributed to the understanding of hepatotoxicity mechanism induced by BPA in fish.
