    Objective To investigate the protective effect of spermine (Sp) on diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) and high glucose-induced cardiac fibroblasts (CFs), and to explore its mechanism.Methods ①Animal experiments 24 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, type 1 diabetes group (TID) and spermine group (TID+Sp, each group n=8). TID rats were induced by streptozocin (STZ, 60 mg/kg), and TID+Sp rat were pretreated with spermine (Sp, 5 mg/(kg·d)) for 2 weeks before STZ injection. After 12 weeks of modeling, blood glucose, insulin levels, ejection fraction (EF) and shortening fraction (FS) were measured, and Masson staining and Sirius red staining were performed in the rat cardiac tissues. ②Cell experiments primary CFs were extracted from newborn (1-3 d) Wistar rat hearts, and were randomly divided into control group, high-glucose group (HG) and HG+Sp group (n=6 per group). HG group was treated with 40 mmol/L glucose, and the HG+Sp group was pretreated with 5 μmol/L Sp for 30 min before HG treatment. SMS121 The cell viability of CFs was detected by CCK8, the content of collagen in culture medium was analyzed by ELISA, and protein expressions of cell cycle related proteins (PCNA, CyclinD1 and P27) were detected by Western blot. Results Compared with control group, the blood glucose and collagen content were increased, and the insulin level and heart function were decreased in the T1D group. Meanwhile, HG induced an increasing of the cell viability, the collagen content in the medium and the expressions of PCNA and CyclinD1, while the expression of P27 was down-regulated. Spermine could reduce the above changes, manifested as improving the cardiac function, regulating the expression of cyclin and reducing the level of myocardial fibrosis. Conclusion Spermine can alleviate myocardial fibrosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy, which mechanism is related to the regulation of cell cycle.

    Cellulase is an important enzyme that useful for agricultural residue hydrolysis such as plant stover, molasse, rice straw. Thermotolerant cellulases are required to apply in textile, food, detergent, biofuels and pharmaceutical applications. This research aimed to isolate the thermotolerant cellulase-producing bacteria from forest soil and to determine cellulase activity from isolated bacteria.

    Soil samples were collected from the Roi Et Rajabhat University forest. One gram of soil sample was mixed with Luria-Bertani (LB) broth medium and incubated at 37°C with shaking at 150 rpm for 24 h. The cultured broth was streaked on LB agar plate and incubated at 37°C for 24 h. Cellulase-producing bacteria were isolated using Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) agar plate. Four bacterial isolates which presented a clear zone on CMC agar plate after flooded with iodine solution, named CM1, CM2, CM3 and CM4. Cellulase activity of 4 isolated bacteria was determined against various pH (pH 4-8) and temperature (50-100°C).

    The results indicated that CM1 isolate showed the highest cellulase activity at 0.074 unit mL-1 at 80°C and pH5. All isolates were identified using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results indicated that CM1, CM3 and CM4 were identified as Pseudomonas stutzeri. while isolate CM2 was Bacillus subtilis.

    This is the first report presenting the thermotolerant cellulase produced by Pseudomonas stutzeri. The thermotolerant cellulase produced from Pseudomonas stutzeri in this study will be useful in many industrial processes using cellulase at high temperatures.

    Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a common urological disorder as men get older. BPH can cause uncomfortable urinary tract symptoms. Given the high incidence of the disease, further research is an undeniable necessity for its better management. In this research, the efficacy of Urtica Dioica root extract (UDE) on clinical and biochemical parameters were evaluated in this type of patients.

    Participants were 60 men with BPH that randomly allocated to two equal groups (Intervention = 30 and Comparison = 30). Block balanced Randomization method was performed using a computer by a trained nurse. Intervention and comparison groups received 450 mg day-1 UDE and placebo as tablets for 12 weeks, respectively. The main outcome was changes in International Prostate Symptoms Score (IPSS) from baseline to end of treatment. Data were collected by completing a standard questionnaire and performing relevant tests based on common laboratory methods.

    UDE had an intermediate effect on IPSS, a small effect on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), intermediate to large effect on malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and intermediate effect on superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity. The magnitude of the effects of UDE on other parameters was overall negligible compared to the comparison and not significant. No side effects were seen in these patients following tablet usage.

    Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2/neu) has been demonstrated as biomarker in Endometrial Carcinoma (EC). This study was conducted to assess the concordance between Sudanese women between immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Silver Situ Hybridization (SISH) for EC diagnosis using HER-2/neu.

    This was a retrospective cross sectional study performed in the state of Khartoum, Sudan. This research used eighty-eight samples of embedded blocks of formalin fixed paraffin referred to the histopathology lab from 2007-2013. The technique of tissue microarray (TMA) was used in which paraffin blocks were prepared before IHC and SISH were subjected.

    In this analysis, 88 specimens were previously diagnosed as endometrial adenocarcinoma. The number of Her-2/new oncogene positive cases among Sudanese women by using IHC were (15.9%), however Her-2/neu amplification in EC were 11.5% by using SISH analysis and strong correlation between Her-2/neu IHC and Her-2/neu SISH is existed, since p-value is 0.,000.

    SISH is a reliable technique that can be used for detecting Her-2/neu oncoprotein and it has many advantages over other methods, also SISH can be used as an alternative to FISH technique.
