7%). The arteriovenous fistula was the most common access used (75.5%, n=71). Most patients were found to be on hemodialysis for more than five years (51.1%, n=48). Conclusion Blood pressure changes are critical while performing hemodialysis, just like we found hypotension as the most common intradialytic complication in our results, followed by hypertension. Others were fever, muscle cramps, and nausea/vomiting. a prospective follow-up study shall be done to have comparative and long-term results related to the acute and chronic complications of dialysis.Introduction The two broad subcategories of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (WDNETs) and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas (PDNECs), based on tumor architecture and cytology. Grade 3 WDNETs are a subset of WDNETs that not only are high grade by mitotic activity or proliferative index but exhibit a well-differentiated histology. In this study, we evaluated the clinicopathological features of primary neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal (GI)/pancreatobiliary tract with emphasis on high-grade WDNETs, as it is a newly defined entity. Methods We conducted a retrospective observational study, including a total number of 122 cases of primary GI and pancreatobiliary tract NENs. Slides and blocks of all cases were retrieved from the departmental archives. Immunohistochemical stains including Ki67 were applied to selected tissue blocks of all cases. Tumors were then evaluated for their histological differentiation and tumor grade. Results Our results e WDNETs are characterized by organoid architecture and monomorphic cell population. Background The development of statistical software in research has transformed the way scientists and researchers conduct their statistical analysis. Despite these advancements, it was not clear which statistical software is mainly used for which research design thereby creating confusion and uncertainty in choosing the right statistical tools. Therefore, this study aimed to review the trend of statistical software usage and their associated study designs in articles published in health sciences research. Methods This bibliometric analysis study reviewed 10,596 articles published in PubMed in three 10-year intervals (1997, 2007, and 2017). The data were collected through Google sheet and were analyzed using SPSS software. This study described the trend and usage of currently available statistical tools and the different study designs that are associated with them. Results Of the statistical software mentioned in the retrieved articles, SPSS was the most common statistical tool used (52.1%) in the three-time periods followed by SAS (12.9%) and Stata (12.6%). WinBugs was the least used statistical software with only 40(0.6%) of the total articles. SPSS was mostly associated with observational (61.1%) and experimental (65.3%) study designs. On the other hand, Review Manager (43.7%) and Stata (38.3%) were the most statistical software associated with systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Conclusion In this study, SPSS was found to be the most widely used statistical software in the selected study periods. Observational studies were the most common health science research design. SPSS was associated with observational and experimental studies while Review Manager and Stata were mostly used for systematic reviews and meta-analysis.Sturge Weber Syndrome is characterized by the classic triad of a facial port-wine stain, leptomeningeal angiomatosis, and glaucoma. The resultant facial vascular anomaly can lead to soft tissue and bone irregularities, causing psychosocial distress and mental health morbidity. When severe, patients can opt for multi-staged surgical intervention by reconstructive surgeons to restore normal symmetry and improve the aesthetic appearance of the face. find more This study reports a case of surgical correction for severe facial vascular malformation resulting in poor outcomes due to the associated mental comorbidities seen in Sturge Weber Syndrome. A 37-year-old male with previously diagnosed Sturge Weber Syndrome presented to the outpatient craniofacial clinic for surgical evaluation of a large facial tuberous hemangioma. The patient underwent multiple operations for facial reconstruction including a staged full-thickness skin graft, facial recontouring, and extracranial correction of vertical orbital dystopia. The case was complicated by the patient’s poorly controlled seizure disorder and psychosocial illness, resulting in self-mutilation of the repair and poor follow-up. Over the span of 10 years, the patient’s mental illness caused him to fail numerous attempts at facial restoration and ultimately led to a poor final result. The psychosocial distress seen in patients with Sturge Weber Syndrome can adversely affect surgical outcomes. Physicians should be mindful of the possible complications that can arise in these patients and have the clinical means to address them.Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver malignancy. The presentation of HCC is highly variable which can delay diagnosis. However, the early diagnosis of HCC can significantly improve prognosis. A rare presentation of a patient with a new diagnosis of HCC with sepsis is described. A 56-year-old male presented septic with abdominal pain and a background of a chronic foot infection. The septic screen identified echocardiographic evidence of vegetations on the aortic and mitral leaflets. Also, an ultrasound of the abdomen identified multiple hypoechoic lesions suspicious for liver abscesses. Multiple attempts of ultrasound-guided aspiration of liver lesions were unsuccessful and he had a tumultuous course with recurring fevers over a period of six months. The diagnosis of HCC was eventually confirmed after the lesion eroded into his anterior gastric wall which caused an upper gastrointestinal bleed. He responded well to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and palliative radiation therapy. At four-year follow-up and after 11 TACE procedures, he is well without liver dysfunction and independent with daily activities.
